Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful Easter weekend with my parents and Papaw. It is always so much fun to have them come here and celebrate with us. We kicked the weekend off on Saturday with an Easter Egg Hunt at our church. As usual the girls enjoyed hunting the eggs, the barrel train and the bounce house being there. They were even both prize winners and walked away with a stuffed duck and a water bottle filled with jelly beans. Then we enjoyed a little shopping and family time together to end the day.

On Easter morning the girls got up and found their loot before we headed to church to celebrate Jesus and the real meaning of Easter. The service was great!

Next we headed to the Country Club for some lunch. I just love their Sunday buffet and today was no exception. Of course, the girls got their usual waffles and then dessert. Once we were done Kaylee and Campbell got to enjoy another egg hunt...

After a few family photos my parents and Papaw hit the road for Waco and we hit the sack for a little rest before the week ahead. It was a perfect end to the Lord's day.

Wylie Kindergarten Easter Egg Hunt

Well the fun day for kindergartners at Wylie finally arrived, the Easter Egg Hunt at a local park and play day. Campbell was so excited all week to be able to hunt eggs with her sweet friends. It made it even better this year that daddy had Good Friday off so both of us could be there to enjoy the festivities.

After getting there at 8:30am to help spread the eggs around the children arrived at 9:10am and were ready to begin.

Once the teachers took some time to line up the 12 different classes they were off and running to get their 12 eggs each. I will have to say I think the hunt was over in about 5 minutes, sooner for some;-) Look at these happy faces and can you tell that the wind was gusting. Just look at Campbell's hair.

All of the children immediately dropped off their baskets at their teacher's area and began to play. It was so much fun to watch all of them interacting with their friends and having such a great time.

Next up was a picnic lunch with their class. It was so funny to hear the conversations that they have at lunch. After this my friend Kelly and I had eaten enough dirt thanks to the wind so we bribed our daughters into going to Red Robin for a treat instead of staying another hour or so. It was a great end to a wonderful afternoon. I have to say that in the end I was a little sad to never be experiencing this tradition again since my baby is done.

Kindergarten Music Program

Today Campbell had her much anticipated music program at school. The theme was Western/Prairie type songs. She was so excited to have several roles to play. Campbell had a speaking part, singing of course, played an instrument and got to square dance too. We have been practicing songs and her one line which was "Because we have a tale to tell" for about two months now. By the time the program came around she knew her lines as well as everyone else's. I do not think she could have been any more excited especially since Papa was able to come and watch too. Kaylee even begged to be checked out of school for a little bit so she could join the fun.

In the end all the students did a great job and were so much fun to watch. We were all so proud of our little cowgirl!

Our 1st Place Winner

Well, over two months ago Campbell found out she was the 1st Place Conservation Poster Winner for all of kindergarten at her school. She has been counting down the days until her awards banquet and we have been excited to see what her poster looked like since the days it was suppose to be displayed in the downtown library were ice days around here. I think Campbell was more excited about the banquet than she was about Christmas. We were all pretty excited for her too.

The night finally came and she got to pick out what she wanted to wear and how she wanted to fix her hair for the big event. The whole way there she talked about how excited she was to be getting an award. Kaylee was a sweet big sister and kept telling her what a good job she did and how proud she was of her. Let me just say that for that evening the Wylie High School cafeteria was magical for our sweet girl. She loved celebrating with some of her friends who were also winners and getting the coveted big blue ribbon. We are so proud of you Campbell Grace and loved every minute of the evening celebrating you!

I have to also thank all of our family and friends who have "ooohed" and "ahhhed" over Campbell's ribbon. You have no idea how much you filled her heart with joy with your interest and sweet words.

Let's Play Ball!!

Well it is that time of year...Softball Season has begun around our house which means we are now even busier than before. Especially Cary who is in the middle of tax season and is coaching Kaylee's team too. Kaylee's team this year is called the Wizards and they are all such a sweet group of girls. We kicked off the season at Opening Ceremonies on March 25th and have hit the ground running ever since.

We have already played two games this year and we are 1-1 as far as our record goes in pre-season games.

Spring Break 2011

We had a great Spring Break this year. The girls and I had a lot of fun at the movies, the zoo, and sleepovers with friends before heading to Waco for some time with Papa, Nana and Papaw.

Here are a few photos of our crew at the zoo. It was a beautiful but cool day so there were tons of people at the zoo. We even waited in line for quite a while to ride the train that was there for the week.

Once we arrived in Waco our days were filled with shopping, playing and getting spoiled by family. Campbell really got into the shopping, once she figured out she wore a shoe size 13 she was pulling every 13 off of the shelf and stacking it in a tower form for us to buy. Kaylee also got into the shopping this year but her eye was a little more particular. I think other than the shopping, a favorite for the girls was the trip to Lion's Park. The time we spent there brought back so many memories for me, of course I also remembered it being much larger when I was little. The girls rode the train, the boats, the flying space ships and the new beautiful carousel. Thanks for all the fun Papa, Nana and Papaw!! The girls are already ready to come back and have more fun.

ACU Cheerleader Camp

Well I have a lot of catching up to do so let's start with the end of February, shall we??

Around February of each year the ACU cheerleaders host a camp for girls are interested in learning some cheers and a routine to perform that night at halftime of the ACU basketball game. Kaylee has never been interested but Campbell on the other hand could not wait to sign up. When we got there that evening to watch her perform she was so excited! When halftime came around she was a little shy at first but then she got into it. You could tell she was trying her best to do all the cheers and moves just right because I do not think she took her eyes off the cheerleader performing with her the whole time. I loved watching her giggle with joy as she performed. She had a wonderful time and has now decided that she wants to try gymnastics/cheer next year instead of dance. I suppose we will give it a whirl.

Daddy/Daughter Tea Party

Last night was a very blessed night for my husband and daughters. Some of my most precious friends planned a Daddy/Daughter Valentine Themed Tea Party at our church. I had the pleasure of helping decorate beforehand so I got a sneak peek at all of the plans ahead of time. To say that these ladies put a lot of work into it is putting it mildly. Each of them have prayed over this event and as a result it was a huge success! I believe that 50 little girls and 36 daddies showed up to enjoy the fun.

The Tea Party has been on Campbell's mind all week and to say that she was excited does not even begin to describe how she felt. In order to get the girls ready I took them to the store after school yesterday and let them pick out their own dresses and shoes. I thought they chose wonderfully! Once we got home they could not wait to get dressed up for their Daddy.

Once they arrived at the church they were greeted by our new children's minister who made each one feel special for being there. They immediately got to pick out their own tea cup for them to use for the evening. Some of our sweet mentors and friends walked around the room serving our family while they got to gather from many trays of treats so many people had made.

The rest of the evening was spent dancing, making outlines of them while the Dads wrote a prayer for their child on them and the children colored themselves, taking pictures to be placed in a handmade frame that they got to make, watching a skit and just celebrating the Daddy/Daughter bond with our earthly father as well as our heavenly one. To top it all off they got to have a wonderful time with so many of our precious friends too.

I guess my family was not ready for the evening to end so they enjoyed frostys before heading home.

When my sweet girls got home they filled me in on all of the evenings events and could not wait to show me their frames, teacups they picked out and the beautiful flowers. Campbell said, "It was the best night ever!" then later she also told Kaylee that they will need to take their picture frames with the picture of them with Daddy to college with them one day. I am glad that we have a while to think about that but I know the time will be here before we know it. What a blessing this evening was to our family.

Busy week around Here!

Wow! It has been a busy week.

I started the week with Kaylee's Valentine's Day Party at school. She is having such a great year and I can honestly say she has the best group of friends who have the best parents. As Room Mom this year it has been a pleasure to organize things because the parents have continued to step up all year when asked to help. A girl could not ask for more;-)

All the students had a blast so each moment was worth the planning and time. Just look at the smile on Kaylee's face= all worth it.

On Wednesday it was Kaylee's turn to have her music program at school. The title was Rockin the Jukebox and it was great! All of the students have been working so hard on all the music and movements since January according to Kaylee. There were about 14 50's style songs. I was so impressed with they way they sounded as well as all the hand movements. Kaylee is going to be a huge asset to Siggie Sing Song one day if Wednesday was any indication of her talent.

A Valentine's /Birthday Celebration

This weekend we got to celebrate my birthday a little more with my family. It is always nice to have a birthday that lasts as long as possible. I did not cook a meal all weekend and we even managed to have a date night to Rancho Loma to celebrate my Birthday/Valentine's Day with some precious friends. My only complaint was that they could not accommodate more of us. (We will definitely call way ahead next time so we can take an even bigger group.) For those of us that were able to go we had a blast. The company of good friends is such a blessing. As we drove home I could not help but think of how great our God is to place just the right people in our lives. My cup overfloweth this year with all the wonderful friends and family I have near and far. Thanks to my parents and Papaw for being such great sitters while we enjoyed our evening.

Snow Day #4

Yeah! I could finally put on these and actually go play in the snow. Since the temperature yesterday was @25* and the sun was out we decided to see if the consistency of the snow had changed enough to really play. To our delight it had, (well at least in the sunny spots), I do not know who was more excited me or the girls to be able to finally have a snowball fight and build a snowman.

Of course none of the fun could start with out a picture first. Then it was time for the real fun to begin. We spent the rest of our time outside running and gathering snow from the sunny spots for our snowman, making snow angels and having snowball fights. I was so glad that Cary was home to make the snowman with us this time. The girls have had so much fun with daddy home the past few days and I have too. It is going to feel very weird to go back to our regular schedule.

After all our hard work we ventured out of the house for a quick trip to Chili's, Target and to get more firewood. It was so nice to get out but when the time came to return home I was ready for the nice warm fire and more family time.

Thank you Lord for the past few days of time as a family. In our busy world it is nice to be reminded that a Time Out can be a wonderful thing. We will have such magical memories of the Blizzard of 2011 and it made for a wonderful Birthday Week too.
